In Ordinary Day, Lenora Champagne reveals her inner life as she weaves together memories, dreams, nature, today’s headlines, and the secret lives of hats, A witty, poetic meditation on finding moments of joy in these dangerous times, where disturbing things happen, yet pleasure and wonder still show up to surprise and delight. A quick trip into life today, from someone who’s been around awhile. LENORA CHAMPAGNE has been writing and performing her own work for decades and developed many a show at Dixon Place. Her solos and plays have been published by PAJ, Performance Research, TCG, No Passport, and others and presented in New York mostly downtown, at Franklin Furnace, PS122, Ohio Theatre, HERE, NY Theatre Workshop, CSC, Soho Rep, the Public, and LaMama, among others. Her accolades include a Fulbright to Japan, NYFA fellowships in Solo Performance and Playwriting, N.E.A. Awards in Solo Performance and Directing, and delightful and productive artist residencies (Dora Maar, Bogliasco, MacDowell, Yaddo). A New Dramatists alumna, her play Feeding on Light was commissioned and produced in 2022 by the Undermain Theatre.
